Description
Three 8 x 10" copper plates
This is the first 3 color plate intaglio print I did. All in all I'm pretty happy with it and I did have to pat myself on the back after fighting tooth and nail to get the registration correct. No easy task that. It's not a true line etch though. It was an experimental print on the whole classes part using a soft-ground technique on copper plates instead of zinc. Even my instructor had never attempted this before so we were all a little nervous about the execution. Turned out pretty well considering it's my first try. I was pretty amazed that we had to let a plate sit in the ferric acid an hour or more to get the desired etch and there was no way of testing the plate coverage like with a zinc plate. Interesting yet a bit nerve wracking. Will definitely be doing it again!
